1. Make home made ice cream
I've tried this myself and the best thing about it is that no matter how yucky the ice-cream turns out, it's still the best in the world because YOU MADE IT! Here is a link to a video tutorial: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M3-OAwhIvU0
Remember you can always use your own home made ice cream machine if you have one.
2. Make your own pizza
Get pizza dough (found at any grocery store near the rolled biscuits), let the kids decorate their own pizza. Anything edible and safe goes. :)
3. Make ice cream sandwiches
Plonk dollops of your kids favorite ice cream between slices of bread of hotdog buns. Add colored sprinkles, M&Ms, etc. It may sound bizarre to us, but the kids will LOVE It.
4. Make chocolate lollipops
Sticky, sweet fun on a hot summer day. Chocolate lollipop molds can be found at your nearest craft store. Directions should be included.
5. Make snow cones
Hot summer days and snow cones. What would be a better combination than that? Here's how: http://www.wikihow.com/Make-Snow-Cones
6. Have a finger meal
Just your normal meal but you eat with your fingers. No forks, knives, or spoons allowed, but straws are allowed for soups.
7. Artistic toast
Use james, marmalade, mayonnaise, anything in the fridge to paint pictures on toast, then eat them. Use fingers to paint or popsicle sticks. Alternatively, use mayonnaise or butter as the base and let them decorate with sprinkles, M&Ms, or bits of fruit.
8. Make fruit juice cubes
Just fresh fruit or blend them and pout into ice-cube trays. Add bits of fruit in them if you desire. Nice to suck on, on those hot summer days.
Possibilities in this category are ENDLESS! Get creative! Remember you can always visit your local library for countless books with great kid-friendly recipes that will be a treat for the entire family.
