TUNSTALL at Tunstall's Teaching Tidbits. We are posting about the Top Ten Reasons You Know It's Back to School Time.

Here are my top 10:
10. I visit the Dollar Tree, Target Dollar Spot, Office Depot, etc. EVERYDAY for SOMETHING. Yes.. They know me by name.
9. I have more coupons and teacher discount card than I know what to do with.
8. I have started my wake-up routine... 7 o'clock last week, 6 o'clock this week, 5:30 for teacher planning week, and eventually 5 o'clock for the week the students return.
7. I have started my overdoes on Vitamin C to fight the sneeze monsters I will soon encounter.
6. Limiting my meal time to 10 minutes or less.
5. I've starting talking to everyone I know from the squatting level.
4. My kitchen table is covered with consumables. I have torn more pages out of workbooks than I ever dreamed I would've.
3. I find myself drifting up and down the school supply isle at every store I can... NO.. I do not have any children of my own.. Yet.
2. My wardrobe is slowly taking its turn from shorts, tanks, and flip flops to slacks, dresses, and heels.
1. My to-do list has obviously changed..
No more.. Beach! Mall! Tan! Spa! Pedicure/Manicure!
More like.. Stop by school to unload car! Dollar Tree! Stop by the school to unload car! Tear out workbook pages! School clothes shopping! and the list goes On and On and On!

Get ready to chunk the summer flops and step into your teaching heels. I ran across this and had to share. No the vocalist is not amazing.. BUT don't all teachers try? My mind often sounds just like the song and I can sooo relate.

Please.. Enjoy, Share, Laugh, Relate, and GET READY!

It's that time of year again! Cram the Van kicks off another school year. School bells will soon be ringing, breaking the silence of summer break.

Cram the Van is designed to support the students of Escambia and Santa Rosa counties. There are too many smiling and eager students in our community who will not have the necessary supplies to begin their school year. The cost of purchasing items such as backpacks, pencils, paper, glue, and notebooks can be overwhelming for a family that is struggling with the basic necessities.

So.. Get out there and support your community. Even if its just a pencil or and eraser that you donate.. It sure can go a long way.

All information and wording gathered from WEAR ABC 3.. For additional details simply visit.. http://www.weartv.com/sections/community/features/cram_the_van/
Watermelons aren't the only fruit that can be grown square. Tomatoes and cucumbers have also been grown square. The logic behind this is simple. The fruit's growth is restricted to a cute, bottle, or container that's placed around the fruit. You can even buy kits in hobby stores that come all ready to grow. BUT.. Think about how much fun it would be to do this on your own.

2. Magnet mania
Give the kids a bunch of magnets, metal objects (paper clips are great) and sting. Teach them about magnetism. You can even have races. Your metal piece on top of the table and your magnet below.
Here are some others: http://www.coolmagnetman.com/magindex.htm

3. Wildflower hunt
Go on a wild flower hunt, then try to identify them using the internet and books from the library. You can then create various activities using your flowers. These activities have been previously stated.

4. Grow a miniature garden
Find an empty wooden box, glass bottle, or plastic container, fill it with soil from the garden (ask Mom first) and plant flower or vegetable seeds. Watch them grow.

5. Grow a frog
If you live near a lake, pond, or stream, look for tadpoles and place them in a container. Take care of them and watch them turn into frogs.

6. Build a recycled aquarium
Find an old aquarium, clear plastic container, or large bottle, and look for materials to make an aquarium. The idea is to use 100% recycled materials. That means absolutely NO buying anything (except maybe the fish).

7. Make a rainbow
There are many fun ways to make a rainbow. The best looking rainbows can be made if you have a glass prism. They can be bought from a science supply store, hobby store, or hardware store. Alternatively, you can use everyday household items to make your rainbow. This is a good way to add a bit of learning into a fun experiment.
Here are some tips: http://www.wikihow.com/Make-a-Rainbow

8. Make your own bubbles
Bubbles are super fun. You can get them really cheap anywhere, but they're more fun if you make your own and blow them on a windy day. If you have a bubble blowing machine, make a million bubbles and see who can burst the most. You can try out these different bubble recipes. http://www.bubbles.org/solutions/

9. Magnifying hunt
Give the kids a magnifying glass each and let them loose around the yard. They'll learn a thing or two for sure.

10. Make your own frisbee
Make your own super duper frisbee and play them in the park or backyard.
Heres easy instructions: http://www.wikihow.com/Make-a-Frisbee

11. Make green slime
Go on a walkabout with your kids about the neighborhood and collect soda cans, old newspaper, and other recyclable materials that can be sold to recycling centers.

14. Go on an animal hunt
If you live near a green patch or near the woods, photograph or count how many types of animals you can spot.

15. Build an ant farm
Build an ant farm and watch how they scurry about doing their jobs. Teach your kids about how ants live and how each type of ant has its own responsibility. Try to identify the different types of ants in your ant farm.

16. Catch fireflies in a bottle
Catch fireflies and watch them glow in a bottle! Here's an effective way to catch fireflies: http://www.firefly.org/how-to-catch-fireflies.html

17. Make a time capsule
Time capsules are a snap-shot of stuff. Make a time capsule containing personal items and stuff like newspaper clippings and photos.
http://www.ehow.com/how_6637_make-family-time.html

18. Go soda can hunting
Go for a walkabout or bike ride and collect soda cans. Send them to the recycling center. You might just earn a dollar or two for your hard work. A good way to find lots of soda cans is to go to places with lots of people traffic. If you're not into picking icky stuff, wear a pair of gloves or use a trash pick up tool.

This now completes my SUMMER ACTIVITIES section and I hope you all learned a thing or two. All of these ideas were from the following site: http://www.squidoo.com/kidssummeractivitiesJessica Varnerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00484061324162939372noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8043753426246589660.post-85089700611775942042011-07-20T07:58:00.000-05:002011-07-20T07:58:14.074-05:00Summer Wet 'n Wild Fun1. Outdoor shower
Sprinkle, Squirt, and Shower! Make an outdoor sprinkler with an empty tin or container by using a nail to make holes in the bottom. Hang the tin on a laundry line or tall pole and run water through it. Attach a sprinkler to the garden hose. If you have a kiddie pool, set it up under the shower. Cool wet fun on a hot summer's day!

2. Water war
Designate a big rectangle as your war zone. Divide yourselves into two teams (mom and son, dad and daughter work well). Place a bucket of water on diagonally opposite corners. Each player armed with a plastic cup. The object is to fill your cups with water and splash the other team. You can only fill up at your team bucket. The object is to get wet and have fun.

3. Play car wash
Toys, sprays, sprinklers, and large sponges encouraged. Sneaky way to get a free car wash!

4. Play water balloon games
There are lots of games you can play with balloon filled with wet, sploshy water, and they're ALL fun. Your only problem is whether you'll run out of balloons before the fun ends. Here are some games: http://www.awesome-kid-birthday-parties.com/water-balloon-games.html

5. Set up a kiddie or portable pool
Guaranteed to provide endless hours of fun, especially when the kids get all hot and bothered by the summer heat. Parental supervision is a must, especially if you have small children.

6. Play wacky water games
A whole lot of water guarantees a whole lot of wacky action and a whole lot of fun. Play these wacky water games and you'll have the kids squealing in delight.
Here are some great game ideas: http://family-fun.kaboose.com/8-fun-water-games.html

Here are some other, easy to understand, outdoor games.
http://www.indianchild.com/outdoor_games.htmJessica Varnerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00484061324162939372noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8043753426246589660.post-61624513821950830752011-07-19T09:21:00.000-05:002011-07-19T09:21:08.440-05:00Summer Tasty Food Activities1. Make home made ice cream
I've tried this myself and the best thing about it is that no matter how yucky the ice-cream turns out, it's still the best in the world because YOU MADE IT! Here is a link to a video tutorial: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M3-OAwhIvU0
Remember you can always use your own home made ice cream machine if you have one.

2. Make your own pizza
Get pizza dough (found at any grocery store near the rolled biscuits), let the kids decorate their own pizza. Anything edible and safe goes. :)

3. Make ice cream sandwiches
Plonk dollops of your kids favorite ice cream between slices of bread of hotdog buns. Add colored sprinkles, M&Ms, etc. It may sound bizarre to us, but the kids will LOVE It.

4. Make chocolate lollipops
Sticky, sweet fun on a hot summer day. Chocolate lollipop molds can be found at your nearest craft store. Directions should be included.

5. Make snow cones
Hot summer days and snow cones. What would be a better combination than that? Here's how: http://www.wikihow.com/Make-Snow-Cones

6. Have a finger meal
Just your normal meal but you eat with your fingers. No forks, knives, or spoons allowed, but straws are allowed for soups.

7. Artistic toast
Use james, marmalade, mayonnaise, anything in the fridge to paint pictures on toast, then eat them. Use fingers to paint or popsicle sticks. Alternatively, use mayonnaise or butter as the base and let them decorate with sprinkles, M&Ms, or bits of fruit.

8. Make fruit juice cubes
Just fresh fruit or blend them and pout into ice-cube trays. Add bits of fruit in them if you desire. Nice to suck on, on those hot summer days.

Possibilities in this category are ENDLESS! Get creative! Remember you can always visit your local library for countless books with great kid-friendly recipes that will be a treat for the entire family.

Make and fly your own kites
Nothing more satisfying than making your own kite and being able to fly it. Here's how..
http://www.wikihow.com/Make-a-Kite-Out-of-a-Plastic-Bag

2. Kiddie barbeque
If you have one, use a mini barbeque pit. If not, you can make one out of empty tins. Just place a couple of charcoal briquettes in the kiddie barbeque pits. All the food is precooked. The idea is to let the kids have fun making believe they're really barbequeing. The real fun is being together as a family.

3. Camp out under the stars in the backyard
If you have a tent, great, if not then use old bedsheets and build a make-shift shelter. Not for small children who need to go to the loo every hour.

4. Look for seashells on the beach
Some beaches are great for se shell hunting, some are not. But the thing here isn't about actually finding for sea-shells, it's the HUNT that's exciting. When (if) you've got a bunch of sea shells, use them to make a necklace or other crafts.

5. Build a tire swing in your backyard
Get an old tire from any auto shop or if you have on in your garage, make use of it. You'll need tough rope that you can get from the hardware store. Make sure the branch is sturdy. You'll need to get Dad in on this.

6. Play crab soccer
Tiring but fun. http://pbskids.org/zoom/activities/games/crabsoccer.html

7. Feed the ducks or swans at a local pond
First, make sure there are no signboards that say "Don't feed the ducks"!

8. Scary stories night
If you have a backyard, start a campfire, toast some marshmallows and tell scary stories. Alternatively, clear some space in your garage and switch off the lights.

9. Picnic in the park
Actually you don't need a park. A nice big ol' shady tree (even in your backyard) will make a really nice place for a picnic. Have a hearty meal, lie down, and watch the clouds go by as you make out imaginary animals with your kids.

10. Make your own hopscotch pattern
Hopscotch is really fun if you make your own patterns and rules.

11. Play tic-tac-toe or hangman on your driveway using chalk
There are lots of "boring" games that suddenly become exciting when you play it on the driveway. After they're done, get the kids to hose the driveway with water to wash away the chalk marks.

12. Sprinkler and hose
Simply pull out the sprinkler and water hose and let the fun begin.
This outfit could be worn any day of the week. Sometimes I will post cute-casual and sometimes I will post to-the-nines. Most of the outfits I find could be found in my closet that I never would've thought of putting together. I hope you enjoy and get inspired!
Below each post I will list the items and where you can currently find similar looks for a reasonable price. You will see that I LOVE Target!
I will update the FIRST GRADE FRENZY!

1. Word hunt
Go round the house and list down all the things that start with a specific letter, for example, Toaster, torchlight, tools, tape, etc. Set a time limit and score one point for each word.

2. Torch light party
Have a party in the dark. Use only torch-lights. Invite your neighbors. Make colored filters out of plastic or glass paper and add color to the party!

3. Play 20 questions
Here are simple directions.
http://www.parentdish.com/2010/04/14/twenty-questions-game/

4. Face painting
Go wild painting wacky designs on your face. You can also paint hands and legs. But
make sure you take precautions - parental supervision required especially if you have small kids who could get paint splatters in their eyes.

5. Paint toenails
If you can, get Dad to lie down on a sofa and apply nail polish on his fingers and toes. If Dad chickens out, paint your own toenails. Don't believe Dad would do this?

6. Makeup party
Ask Mom if she's got old makeup that she doesn't want anymore. Find a victim (err.. volunteer also known as Dad) and apply makeup on him!

7. Indoor treasure hunt
All you need is a couple pieces of paper to scribble your clues and a nice treat for the successful treasure hunter. Start at on point somewhere in your house, think of the next point you want to hide a clue, then create a mysterious riddle or question about it. About ten riddles and clues should do. Celebrate the winner with fizzy drinks all around while they enjoy their treat.

8. Learn to build a webpage
This is the Internet age. It's NEVER to soon to learn to build your own webpage. Here's your jump start. http://www.2learn.ca/webauthoringtool/kidscreateyourpage.html

9. Learn to perform simple magic tricks
Learn simple magic tricks with stuff you can find in the home. Once you've got it right, mesmerize Dad and Mom. Here are a few starters. http://magic.about.com/od/libraryofsimpletricks/ig/Easy-Magic-Tricks/

10. Play pencil and paper games
Don't underestimate the fun potential simple paper and pencil games.
http://www.pencilandpapergames.com/

11. Make up knock-knock jokes
Knock-knock.. Who's there? Summer. Summer who? Summer nice, summer smelly just like you.
http://www.jokesnjokes.net/funny.jokes.amusing.humor.laughs/Kids/knock001.htm

12. Music hour
Have an hour where you must talk in melody. No plain talking allowed. You have to sing everything that you want to say for an hour. You can even have musical themes; rock, country, etc. (SHOUT OUT TO KELLI: THIS IS JUST AN EVERYDAY ROUTINE HUH?)

13. Pillow fight
Clear the room and floor of any toys or sharp objects and let loose. Make it a family pillow fight. Use light, fluffy pillows.. Not the hard stuffed kind.

14. Rainy day jigsaws
Get that 1000 pieces jigsaw out and do it. It's not about the jigsaw but about doing something together and bonding.

15. Disco night
Get out those old 80's disco albums. Oh come on.. You know you still have them. String some Christmas lights and if you have one, a disco ball. Then dance the night away to your favorite disco songs. End the night watching "Saturday Night Fever".

16. Make a what-to-do jar
Get the kids to write fun stuff they want to do on slips of paper and put them in the jar. When they get board, get them to reach in the jar and pull out a slip. The activities can be as simple as 20 jumping jacks.

I want to make something to this nature for my classroom when I start to see the glassy look in their eyes.

17. Play charades
Watch each other go wacky trying to act out phrases or things. If you have small children playing, then simple to-do actions are needed.

18. Turn your living room into a movie theatre
Give your kids lots of newspaper, old bedsheets, and sticky tape and let them turn your hall into a dark cinema in the daytime. Dad needs to be on-hand to help out while Mom makes the popcorn. Then watch a movie in your self-built movie cinema.

19. Pajama Day
Declare on day pajama day. Go about your daily chores in your pajamas. Dare your Dad to go to the store in his pajamas!

20. Pirate Day
Dress up like pirates for the day. Make pirate themed meals and talk like pirates. If you can't do it the whole day, then specify a time-frame.

21. Make a family scrapbook
Get those old photos out, organize them and make your own scrapbook. What's important here is sharing the memories with your kids so they know how very special each and every day with them is to you.

22. Feed the monster
This is a twist to the bean bag toss. Get a large cardboard box.. about 2 feet wide and 2 feet tall.. and on one side, paint a picture of a cuddly monster with big googly eyes and mouth. Then cut out the eyes and mouth. Make a simple bean bag, use tennis balls or small packet of chips to see who can toss them through the eyes and mouth. You can assign points to each hole and keep score.

23. Doodle Storyboard
Grab a pack of colored pencils and a piece of paper. If possible, you can also a large sheet of paper and play on the floor. One of the kids usually start first by drawing anything on the paper and starts a story. For example, he draws a rabbit and says, "One day a fluffy rabbit was walking in the park". Then the next one draws something else (a carrot for example) and continues the story. You continue allowing everyone to draw and add these piece to the story. This can continue for as long as you like.

24. Blankets, Bedsheets, Curtains, and Towels
Use your imagination!! These can be turned into super-hero capes, tents, flying flags, even a home theatre when hung on the wall.

25. Bed station
Four-post bed anyone? This was one of my personal favorites as a kid. String up bedsheets from post to post. Try to make the inside of the bed a mini-dark room. If you can't do this, turn your kids bed into a make believe space ship and play "Battle Space Ship". Or take a couple of flashlights and crawl under the bed and tell creepy stories. Make sure there's enough ventilation. This activity can get stuffy and sweaty but your kids will love it.

Make home-made play doh
Have a squishy fun time making art out of your home-made play doh. Here is a great link with easy instructions.
http://www.instructables.com/id/How-to-Make-Playdough-Play-doh/

2. Make your own t-shirts
Grab that old t-shirt and get some fabric crayons and you're set for a least an hour's worth of fun. Anything and everything goes. Just let your creativity run wild!

3. Funky Sticky Collage
Look around the house, yard, garage for small interesting stuff you can stick onto paper to create your own funky collage. Anything goes - buttons, sand, twigs, cotton. pieces of fabric, black pepper, herbs, bottle caps. Even better, make your own collage greeting card and send it to Grandma or Grandpa! That's sure to cheer them up!

4. Turn your driveway into an art canvas
Get your kids to draw a big "I Love You Daddy" or "I Love You Mommy" so that's the first thing they see when they drive home!

5. Make Origami art
This should provide hours of fun, but you will need an adult to explain some of the folding techniques. If you make enough colorful origami pieces, you can string them together and make a hanging mobile or paste them on your bedroom wall. Here is a great link with lots of fun ideas.
http://en.origami-club.com//

6. Make pop-up cards
Make a pop-up card for Grandma and Grandpa and post it to them. Make one and post it to yourself. Here is a great link with ideas and video tutorials.
http://www.ehow.com/videos-on_5225_make-pop_up-cards-envelopes.html

7. Make sock puppets
Simple enough. All you need is an old pair of socks (preferably single color), glue, and stuff to stick on the socks for eyes, nose, and mouth. You can get plastic googly eyes from your local handicraft stores.

8. Make your own pet rock family
Go hunting for smooth hand sized rocks, take them home, give them a good clean scrub, dry them, and paint them any way you like. A quick spray of clear lacquer/paint keeps the paint in. Mom or Dad need to do this because the spray can get into the eyes.

9. Make paper airplanes
Make your own paper airplanes and then have a contest to see who can make their airplane fly the furthest. I never knew there were so many ways to create something out of paper that would fly.
http://www.10paperairplanes.com/

10. Finger painting
Get the kids to wear their old t-shirts and shorts and let them loose creating masterpieces with water colors or poster paint and fingers.

11. Make your own instrument
Once you've got your instruments done, form a band and videotape your performance.
http://www.kinderart.com/teachers/9instruments.shtml

12. Make costumes with newspaper
Low-cost and lots of fun. You'll need lots of newspaper and lots of sticky tape. Avoid using staples and items that could potentially poke the skin like paper clips (unless your kids are big enough to be careful).

13. Make a dream catcher
Easy to make, they're really colorful and fun! Here is a great video tutorial.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CVSXXeFF-Gw

14. Make a daisy chain or flower garland
Use the wildflowers you collected in your wildflower hunt and make this fun wearable! Make a couple for Mom and Dad and garland them when they come home from work.
Daisy Chain: http://www.howcast.com/videos/166638-How-To-Make-a-Daisy-Chain
Flower Garland: http://www.save-on-crafts.com/tecformakgar.html

15. Make pressed flowers
Another great activity using the wildflowers that you collected is to press them. After you've pressed them you can use the pressed flowers on a collage or to make greeting cards for someone special. You can even decorate a poster and hang it on your bedroom wall.

16. Make your own seashell jewelry
Was and dry the seashells you found at the beach. To string them you'll need to drill small holes in the seashells (Dad's help needed here). Here are step by step directions. http://www.ehow.com/how_2122242_make-seashell-jewelry.html

17. Make cut out mustaches, beards, and eyebrows
Stick double-sided tape on the back and try out each mustache or beard. These can even put taped/glued onto small dowel rods. Take photos of yourself.

18. Shoot your own short movie
Make up an adventure story and shoot your own short film. If you have an old video camera or if your kids are responsible enough to handle one, get them to plan the script for their movie, create the costumes, and then shoot the movie. These kinds of video footage are precious keepsakes and if you submit them to YouTube or America's Funniest Videos, you might just make a bundle.

19. Summer Video Log
If you have one, give your kids a video camera (they should be old enough to know how to use and care for one) and get them to videotape their summer. Make a home video and transfer it to CD for keepsake at the end of summer.

20. Veggie Stamping
Remember this fun art activity in school? Get different types of veggies from your fridge or look for interesting objects that can be dipped in paint and stamped onto paper. Make interesting blends of color for striking effect. You can also stamp onto t-shirts using fabric paints.

21. Make ballon sculptures
All you need is a packet of sausage balloons - those long thin balloons that blow up to 3 feet long and about 1 1/4 inch in diameter - and start twisting. You can make simple animals like dogs, birds, and flowers using one, two, or more balloons. I love the squeaky sounds the balloons make when you twist them. The animals we make hardly look like anything at all, but it sure is fun to use your imagination. Good Luck! Here are some hints and tricks.
Mrs. VarnerJessica Varnerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00484061324162939372noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8043753426246589660.post-75443066159519394532011-07-12T07:44:00.000-05:002011-07-12T07:44:18.028-05:00Summer Family Fun and Adventures1. Visit a food factory or fast food restaurant
Get in touch with a local food factory or fast food restaurant and ask if they have family tours. McDonalds regularly takes visitors on a store tour inside their kitchen and working areas to show visitors how they work. Very educational and eye opening for kids to see how their burgers are cooked.

2. Volunteer at a soup kitchen
Get in touch with your local community soup kitchen and ask about their day volunteer programs. Not only an eye opener, but a reality check for you and your kids.

3. Visit your local fire station
Fire Stations often have visitor programs to teach kids and visitors how fire fighters live and work, and during those visits, sometimes they let you try sliding down the fire-fighter pole and even test a hose.

4. Visit an orchard and pick fruits
If you live near farms or orchards, ask if they'd mind letting you pick fruits from their orchard. Some kindly owners will let you pick fruits for free but paying for them is the nice thing to do.

5. Go fishing with hand made poles
Return to the good old days when fishing poles were simple tree branches. Bring lots of drinks and finger food.

6. Organize and donate
A great activity for kids during summer is to organize their school supplies, rooms, and closest. Take any outgrown clothes and toys and donate to charity. Let your child carry in the donation and get the receipt. It will help them feel good about their hard work.

7. Picnic in the park
Actually you don't need a park. A nice big ol' shady tree (even in your backyard) will make a really nice place for a picnic. Have a hearty meal, lie down, and watch the clouds go by as you make out imaginary animals with your kids.

8. Turn your garage into a cinema
Rent a projector and turn an old bed sheet or white linen into a screen. Invite the neighbors. Throw some carpets or rugs on the floor so everyone can just laze around if they want. Be sure to pass around plenty of popcorn!

9. See a "one dollar" or even "FREE" movie at the theater
Lots of cinemas have one-dollar days or even FREE days where they screen movies and tickets are $1 or FREE. Take the whole family for one of these movies.

10. Go to a drive-in movie
A must for those lazy long summer nights!

11. Attend "story time" at your local library
Most libraries have readying times or story times where either a staff or authors are invited to read a story. Kids have a chance to interact with the story-teller and answer questions about the book. Then take the time to explore other favorite reads.

12. Set up a lemonade or snow-cone stand
Help your kids learn to earn a little extra cash by selling lemonade or snow cones. Teach them the basics of running a small business. A great opportunity for your kids to experience life as a little entrepreneur. You never know when you might light the business flame in one of them and they go on to make a cool million as a businessman or businesswoman. I have even seen supplies for this activity in the "dollar spot" at Target recently.

13. Go on a family camping trip
A family camping trip can be a great blessing. It can also turn out to be the worst nightmare of your life. It all depends on how well you prepare and how far every family member is willing to go to make your camping trip a success. There's NO better way to bond with one another and get to know each other than to take away the TV, get away from the malls, and go where there is no cell phone reception. Preparation is the key, but expect the unexpected and when they DO happen, cherish the memories they bring. Remember this can even happen in your backyard. Lock your house up and NO reentering!

As I have said before I love to "stalk" blogs and get ideas for my first grade classroom. I have attempted in the past to start a couple of different blogs, but I just cant seem to stay motivated. I have now started a classroom blog and the thought always seems to keep me on my toes with ideas and post topics. So.. Here goes nothing. Please visit, follow, enjoy, suggest, and comment on my FIRST GRADE FRENZY BLOG.
This is a picture from my first year of teaching. These silly students taught be more than they will ever know. I was truly blessed to have such an amazing group to break me in as an official first grade teacher.

I am many things, but I thought I would share just a few. :) Now for some Q&A..

Q: What would you be doing if you weren't a teacher?
A: I am often asked this question and my response is always the same. I honestly do not have a clue what profession I would pursue if I were unable to teach. My heart is 100% teacher and I love every minute.

Q: What are your hobbies?
A: Being a wife, spending time with my family and friends, interior decorating, crafts, and of course shopping.

Q: When you were little, what did you want to be when you grew up?
A: A teacher! I always loved playing school as a child and ALWAYS had to be the teacher. I guess when you know.. you know!

Q: What is one of your favorite personality traits?
A: Organization! A tid bit of OCD.. Yes! I am often teased and talked about when people visit my classroom, house, closet, etc. I am SO okay with it.

Q: When you're on vacation, where do you like to go?
A: You can take me anywhere on vacation and I will live it up. Beach.. Snow.. City.. Mountains.. Oh the places we can go. My husband and I LOVE to travel.

Q: What is the best piece of advice anyone has ever given you?
A: Just one.. Nope, here are a few. Be Yourself, Stay Positive, Don't Give Up, Always Be The Best You Can Be, Don't Loose Faith, and like my students say.. You Get What You Get and You Don't Pitch a Fit!
